Corvettes & Light Frigates
MEKO® A-100 Corvette and MEKO® A-100 Light Frigate.
The MEKO® A-100 Light Frigate is a compact fighting ship capable of full 4-dimensional warfare, and fits a comprehensive suite of C³ and sensors and effectors, including 16 x VL SAM cells for up to a 64 missile load.
The wide beam of 16 m, elevated and enclosed forecastle, storm bow, and extended foreknuckle make for exceptional stability, seakeeping and helicopter operating for a ship in this tonnage class.
With special RCS-reducing shaped and screened upperworks, actively cooled waterline shell exhausts and low-noise hull flow-lines, the MEKO® A-100 Light Frigate has a high degree of stealth design in all spectra.
The combination of >250 m² module deck areas in the aft and midship mission areas with a large transom stern will allow up to 5 TEU-sized mission modules plus a 11 m special boat to be embarked without any reduction in fighting capabilities or equipment.
The very large (25 m x 15 m) flight deck, large hangar and an exceptionally stable ship enable safe and all-weather operations of a 10-ton class organic helicopter in Sea State 5 without restrictions.
Class MEKO® A-100 Light Frigate
Lighter and smaller than the Class MEKO® A-200 Frigate, the Class MEKO® A-100 Light Frigate nevertheless shares many of the outstanding frigate performance characteristics and multi-purpose versatility of its ‘bigger sister’.
MEKO® A-100 Corvette
The MEKO® A-100 Corvette is a somewhat smaller and more economic class ‘sister’ of the A-100 Light Frigate, which is nevertheless almost equal in multi-purpose capabilities, and has aviation support and modularity features similar to those of the larger vessel, and is also fully capable of three-dimensional warfare. The ship’s propulsion arrangement of two medium-speed diesels is a highly economic solution for its speed range.
Flexible design standards for survivability are available within the design, enabling navies to select the most cost-effective solution matching their budgets.

MEKO® A-100 Patrol Corvette
The MEKO® A-100 Patrol Corvette is the smallest version of the A-100 family, with a displacement in the 2,200 ton class. The MEKO® A-100 Patrol Corvette is a combination of a compact and very affordable platform with powerful and flexibly scalable performance options for platform and combat suite.
The ship retains the aviation support and mission modularity features of the bigger vessels in the A-100 family, and has the ability to be upgraded to threedimensional warfare, utilizing the full spectrum of the MEKO® platform, combat system and mission modularity technologies. This inherent performance growth potential allows for the acquisition of the ship in a basic and very cost-effective configuration for the patrol and surveillance roles, but one that is easily upgradeable across its life to full combat roles when budgets or operational demand allows.
The ship platform incorporates flexible design standards for survivability and signature reduction within the design, enabling navies to select the most cost-effective solution matching their budgets and operational roles envisaged for the ship.
In addition, flexible options are available for propulsion, both in the power and make of the ropulsion diesels, as well as the incorporation of an electric propulsion mode by the addition of PTI e-motors. Thus navies have a choice of speeds and propulsion modes within the design, according to their budgets, operational needs and logistic preferences.
A scalable state-of-the-art C³ system integrates an advanced sensor suite with a powerful hardkill and softkill weapon and effector load, including the upgrade potential for up to 12 x VL SAM cells, up to 8 x heavy anti-ship missiles, CIWS, ECM decoys and ASW torpedoes.
The good beam, bow shape and raised forecastle ensure a highly stable and dry platform for sustained operations in rough sea, and allows for the safe operation of an organic 11-ton helicopter from the large (25 m x 14 m) flight deck in high seas and low visibility.
Class 130 Corvette The Class MEKO® A-100 Patrol Corvette is the latest version of the Class 130 Corvette, which is in service with the German Navy.
